We are on the move (probably...)

After several years of wishing to move, we have accepted an offer on our current property and with luck we will be moving out on 1st of May.

There are a number of possibilities as to where we will be going. Watch this space for more news...

As a result of our planned move, the General Programme classes held at the Odiyana Centre will end on 21st April 2008. Please await further announcements on where GP will be held after this date. GPs at other branches remain unaltered.

Full house for Karma Day Course

Sylvia DaviesOur day course on the 17th of November (on Karma) broke all records by attracting over 30 people.  They enjoyed two wonderful teachings on the profound and beautiful subject of Karma, given by Sylvia Davies.  There was also plenty of time to have a chat with others visitors over the lovely vegetarian lunch.   Our next day course is scheduled for the 9th of February, when the topic will be 'Freedom':

Publicity for the day course reads as follows: 'All our life we have been under the control of our mind like a puppet on a string. Whenever our mind wants to do something we have to do it without choice. If our mind tells us to get angry we get angry. If our mind becomes sad we are sad. The only way to attain real freedom is to reverse this situation and take control of our mind.'

Sponsored Walk Up Snowdon is Peak of Perfection

Odiyana Centre's Resident Teacher, Kelsang Chokyong led the way up the highest mountain in Wales and England

Odiyana Centre's annual sponsored walk took place on the 8th of September 2007, with five members of the centre trekking all the way to the top of Snowdon for the sake of World Peace.

Kelsang Chokyong set a blistering pace up the Pyg Track while the rest tried to keep up!  There were fine views across Snowdonia on the journey up the mountain. After the long journey up, we all enjoyed a well earned rest at the top and unpacked our squashed sandwiches for lunch.

As the trains to the summit were not running, there was no option but to head back down on the Miners Track on foot.

But all the effort was well worth it as over £500 was raised by the walk, which left everyone (except Chokyong) exhausted.

New Shrine Cabinet for Odiyana Centre

A new shrine cabinet has been purchased by Odiyana Centre to house our precious statues of holy beings.  Members of Odiyana Centre went to Bristol to collect the shrine in August and our Statue of Buddha Shakyamuni fits perfectly in the centre, with other holy beings either side.

Work-a-day for World Peace

Our recent 'work-a-day for world peace' event was a hugh success with over £1600 being raised in just one day (July 20th 2007) by residents and friends of Odiyana Centre. Many many thanks to all those who took part in this fantastic event. You have all contributed to spreading pure Dharma throughout the world, and thereby bringing World Peace one step closer!
